Conducting an employee investigation effectively requires skill and tact. This one day course will show HR practitioners, line managers and counter fraud staff how to fulfil their obligation to investigate disciplinary complaints relating to employee misconduct prior to disciplinary action. Conducting Effective Disciplinary Interviews - 1 day

Disciplinary and investigative interviews need to be planned and executed with care if your evidence is to be used as the basis for disciplinary action or if you wish such evidence to be admissible in further civil or criminal proceedings. This practical one day course will provide managers and HR professionals with the opportunity to develop and practise generic interviewing skills and establish how to avoid some of the common errors. Cognitive Interviewing is a method of interviewing using a proven series of memory retrieval techniques which aim to increase the amount of information that can be obtained from a subject. Cognitive interviewing is therefore an ideal tool for interviewers. The main benefit of cognitive interviewing is that it can obtain up to 40% more relevant information about a specific event or incident. This means interviewers will be able to take statements and prepare cases based on accurate facts, even if the event happened months or years ago. A truly powerful tool which can cut down the amount of time interviews take and eliminate the need for costly re-interviews. This course will therefore be of particular interest to those preparing breaches and writing court reports.
